In a joint statement issued in the capital, the two organizations warned that this figure represents about one-third of the total number of children of school age.
Both UNICEF and Save the Children regretted that another 12 million children in this North African country could interrupt their school years due to a lack of adequate infrastructure and teachers.
In view of this complex situation, both organizations demanded that the national Government reopen schools, many of which were closed in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic or after being occupied by irregular armed groups.
They also demanded, on the other hand, the mobilization of funds so that children can return to school and feel in a safe environment.
