According to a statement issued by the Health Ministry, those affected by the disease were reported in the southern regions of Ashanti and Western, as well as in the northern region of Savannah.
The Marburg virus disease outbreak has officially ended since this territory, which experienced the outbreak on July 7, has not reported new cases in a 42-days time.
According to various sources, eradicating Marburg virus in Ghana was thanks to coordinated work between local health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), apllying control and epidemiological surveillance measures in an accelerated pace.
In addition to Ghana, this virus also affected Guinea which declared its eradication in September 2021, after five weeks of incidence.
