Panama makes test for population and housing census

Panama City, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Panama has conducted a technological test for the population and housing censuses scheduled for 2023, government authorities said.

From Sunday 18th until October 15th, they will review the collection and transmission of data through special equipment such as the mobile capture device, a type of small computer, with processing capabilities, internet connection, memory and storage, the Comptroller General of the Republic, Gerardo Solis, reported.

Three venues will host this pilot test, including the township of Tocumen, province of Panama; the town of Capira (West Panama), and the Caribbean neighborhood of Cristóbal Este in Altos de Los Lagos (Colón).

According to the official, the process will allow for the preparation of national diagnoses in the socio-demographic, economic and sectoral fields.

For her part, the general secretary of the Comptroller’s Office, Zenia Vásquez, indicated that 169 collaborators, including inspectors, assistants, supervisors, registration personnel, drivers, secretaries and medium technicians, will be available to carry out this test.

For the safety of the census personnel, sanitary measures for the prevention and control of Covid-19 will be taken during the test.
