The composition of the host delegation marks the work agenda and the reasons for this State visit. On behalf of Germany, it is made up of Wolfgang Hermann Dold, ambassador to Mexico, Wolfgang Silbermann, adviser for Political Affairs of the Office of the President, and Cerstin Gammelin, spokesperson. The two heads of state were accompanied by their respective wives.
Shortly before, in his morning press conference, the Mexican president said he was going to receive Steinmeier with great pleasure and confirmed he would hold a private interview with him and also have a meal with German businessmen who are accompanying him and are interested in speaking with us of economic and trade relations and how to strengthen them.
He added the issue of the war in Ukraine is not on the agenda, but he did not rule out that it be addressed in private conversations with the visitor, because if the opportunity arises, he will take advantage of it.
He clarified what was proposed is to try to strengthen relations at the meeting and that is why German businessmen are coming, who know the situation that prevails because Mexico is very attractive for foreign investment and Germany is an important trading partner.
