The Pakistani leader said in a tweet that he was deeply touched by the action of Palestinian people.
‘Deeply touched by Palestinians´ gesture of sending their Response & Rescue team to help flood victims in Pakistan’, Sharif tweeted.
The Prime Minister also said that the gesture ‘is a reflection of a strong bond of love & brotherhood we have for each other. We will never forget this gesture’, he assured.
Record monsoon rains and melting mountain glaciers in northern Pakistan triggered severe flooding in a third of the country’s territory, affecting 33 million people.
The floods swept away homes, crops, bridges, roads and livestock, with damages estimated at 30 billion dollars.
The death toll caused by the heavy floods in Pakistan is 1,559, including 551 children and 318 women, without counting the deaths caused by infectious diseases.
