He said this at a meeting with his Emirati counterpart, Ahmed Belhoul al-Falasi, on the sidelines of the Education Transformation Summit currently being held in New York.

We welcome all children at school age, and guarantee education to all without exception or discrimination, and in any region of the country, the Minister said.

He clarified that textbooks are offered free of charge for grades one through nine and semi-free for the pre-university stage.

Tabbaa announced that 15,000 teachers were hired in 2020 while this figure increased to 42,000 specialty teachers in 2021 and 2022 in order to make up for the deficit.

He suggested to his Emirati counterpart to establish a joint school, which would be a model for Arab cooperation and could teach Syrian and Emirati students.
