DPRK denies rumor about arms sale to Russia

Pyongyang, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) denied rumors about an alleged arms deal with Russia, and accused the United States of trying to discredit North Korea with such hoaxes and political-military pretensions, KCNA reported on Thursday.

“We have never exported weapons or ammunition to Russia in the past and have no plans to do so,” the deputy general director of the General Directorate of Weapons at the North Korean Ministry of Defense said in a statement released by the Korean news agency on Thursday.

He also pointed out that the United States is trying to tarnish the DPRK’s image with such rumors and justify a political-military action against the Asian nation.

He categorically condemned the United States and strongly warned it to stop spreading such groundless accusations against the DPRK.

The North Korean official stressed that the United States and other hostile forces recently tried to use the hoax to project an alleged violation of the United Nations Security Council resolution.

He repeated that Pyongyang has always considered unlawful the sanctions that the United States and its allies have tried to impose on the Asian country at the UN Security Council.
