After a meeting with that organization, in which he announced part of the peace plan in Ukraine and a parallel five-year world truce without conflicts, the Mexican foreign minister distributed a press release in which he confirmed the approval of this initiative.

He announced that in the morning session of the Council he will present this proposal by President Lopez Obrador to the UN Security Council. In essence, the proposal seeks to strengthen in the short term the possibility of mediation in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Both nations have recently warned about an escalation of this conflict, so, now more than ever, it is convenient to insist and strengthen the demand of the international community for mediation and a constraint to that war, he said.

Why is this peace plan so important to us? He wondered. Because there are a number of essential ethics: thousands of people are suffering, thousands of people have been killed, and for this reason alone we have to do it, but also because of inflation, he said.

He said that the current inflation in the world is closely related to this war, and the more it lasts, the more inflation will prevail. There is also shortage of fertilizers; and there will also be food shortage in several regions of the world, that is why it is so relevant.
