Forty-six percent of those consulted think that economic issues are the country’s main problem, according to the research released here.
Another 30 percent said that insecurity is the main concern for citizens. Among the economic problems, the most mentioned is the lack of employment, followed by the increase in prices, loss of wages, poverty and the economic situation in a broad sense.
The consulting firm indicated that the political definition of the respondents influences the diagnosis. It pointed out that voters of the opposition Frente Amplio give more weight to economic issues and, like the supporters of the government coalition, are increasingly concerned about insecurity.
The increase in homicides and other crimes in recent weeks has been linked by authorities to the activity of organized crime groups seeking to turn the country into an exporter of narcotics to Europe and Africa.
