According to a Foreign Ministry statement, Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on the international community to play a constructive role in achieving détente, restoring peace negotiations as soon as possible and airing each side´s concerns.

He said at the meeting on the issue that there is no room for trial and error as long as there are concerns about nuclear facilities, accident risks must be prevented.

The foreign minister insisted on focusing on the humanitarian issue and civilian deaths, after urging objective, fair, fact-based investigations purged of politicization.

He also called for greater efforts to curb the aftermath of the conflict in the world, to guarantee the stability of the energy market and the distribution of food.

However, he condemned unilateral sanctions and that developing nations should be forced to pay the price for their imposition.

He also called for respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and the principles of the UN Charter while seeking a political resolution to the conflict.

Wang also reaffirmed China’s position when he spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, to whom he ratified his commitment to peace.

He is carrying out an extensive agenda as part of his stay at the UN headquarters in New York to attend the 77th session of the General Assembly.
