China reaffirms at UN its support for Cuba against U.S. blockade

United Nations, Sep 24 (Prensa Latina) China on Saturday reaffirmed at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) its strong support to Cuba's struggle against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States for over 60 years.

Speaking at UNGA´s 77th session, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his country’s strong support for Cuba´s just cause to defend its own rights.

Yi also rejected and described the imposition of unilateral sanctions as unacceptable.

In this regard, China joins several nations that also condemned the US blockade, by addressing at the international body.

Earlier this month, China condemned the extension of the law extending the U.S. policy against Cuba for one more year.

President Joe Biden signed the legislation and thus became the twelfth U.S. president to ratify the policy against Cuba and its people.

A memorandum released by the White House to the offices of Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that the decision “is of national interest” and added that the extension will be valid through September 14, 2023.
