France considers Cuba’s referendum on families a lesson to the world

Paris, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Rodrigo Arenas, a lawmaker from Unsubmissive France, on Sunday described as a lesson of tolerance and inclusion for the world the referendum that Cuba is holding on its new Family Code today.

Cuba is teaching a lesson, after decades of Revolution it is transforming, with a vote that will make it the most tolerant country in the world, seeking to define people as human beings, beyond man or woman, the parliamentarian told Prensa Latina.

According to Arenas, the weight of the significance of the process underway in Cuba, where millions of people are called today to the polls to endorse a modern Family Code aimed at granting more rights, should be properly taken into account.

It should be like that all over the planet, to define ourselves as human beings, capable of educating a child and that he/she grows up with the possibility of choosing his/her destiny, his/her professional, sexual or other orientation, emphasized the deputy to the National Assembly and a member of the left-wing bloc New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes).

One of the issues he highlighted in the Cuban Code is the gestation of solidarity, which he considered a very important step.

Cuba is becoming today the first country to submit a Family Code to popular consultations and a referendum, an unprecedented process in Cuba, which had only carried out constitutional referendums before.
