Mobilizations against US blockade against Cuba supported in Uruguay

Montevideo, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) Cubans and Uruguayans agreed here on Sunday in condemning the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba and supporting the international mobilizations to reject Washington's policy.

This is what is happening today when the Bridges of Love movement called for a world day for this purpose from the United States.

The call was supported by the Uruguayan Anti-imperialist Movement of Solidarity with Cuba and the Peoples of the World, which launched a virtual caravan against the US blockade against Cuba, Coordinator Eduardo Etchepare told Prensa Latina.

In this regard, Mercedes Perez, a Cuban resident here, supported the initiative against what she described as a genocidal practice by the US Government against her homeland.

Her compatriot, Marcel Cabrera, who is an honorary member of the Hermanos Saiz Association, which brings together young writers, artists, intellectuals, and cultural promoters in Cuba, expressed himself in similar terms.

Washington is suffocating Cuba and ignores the will of the international community expressed at the United Nations General Assembly, which calls for the lifting of the blockade, he said.

He noted that the administration of President Joe Biden intends to make it appear that the hardships caused by the economic, financial, and commercial blockade are the responsibility of the Cuban Government.

The blockade against Cuba is law in the United States and has been in place for more than six decades, he said.
