Listín Diario, Diario Libre and Al Momento were some of news platforms that heaped praise on the results of the Sunday´s popular referendum in Cuba.

The news platforms also highlighted a tweet posted by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel: “Yes Vote Victory. Justice has been done. Approving the #CódigoDeLasFamilias (Family Code) is justice. It is settling a debt with several Cuban generations whose family projects have been long yearning for. We will be a better nation from today”.

On Sunday, over six million Cubans exercised their right to vote nationwide, in a day the new legal norm was endorsed by 66.87%.

The approved norm will replace the current family code dating from 1975, and will give continuity to the rights contained in the 2019 Constitution and international treaties.
