Kenya investigates 11 people killed, including policemen

Nairobi, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Kenyan authorities announced today that they began the search for the perpetrators of a massacre of 11 people, including eight policemen, in the northern county of Turkana, which took place last weekend.

Through social networks, the Police of this territory reported these people were killed near the borders with Ethiopia and South Sudan, after they were attacked by cattle rustlers, whom they were chasing.

They also said the criminals, members of the Pokot ethnic group, had stolen animals from a village after using violence against the villagers.

In Kenya, an East African country suffering from prolonged drought, there are frequent clashes between villagers over control of land and water sources for animal husbandry or cultivation of crops.

According to various sources, three years ago in the north of the country more than a dozen community members were killed by cattle rustlers, who belonged to an ethnic group of Ethiopian origin.
