Civil Defense decrees Recovery Phase in western region of Cuba

Havana, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Civil Defense on Wednesday decreed the Recovery Phase for the provinces of Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Havana, Mayabeque and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud for Hurricane Ian , is far away from the country.

In information note number four issued by the National General Staff, the agency also announced normality for the territories of Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Villa Clara, Santi Spiritus and Ciego de Avila, as of 10:00 am (local time) on Wednesday.

According to the Civil Defense, the recovery includes extreme security measures and rules of conduct during the execution of rehabilitation and reconstruction actions.

They also reiterated to the management bodies of the economic entities and social institutions and to the population the disciplined compliance with the guidelines issued by the local authorities and the contribution to the sanitation and cleanup work.

Moreover, they acknowledged the work carried out by the institutions and the mass media and the solidarity shown by the people, in view of the passage of Ian through the west of the country and the damages caused, especially in the province of Pinar del Rio.

The decision is in response to the departure of the natural phenomenon, according to information from the Meteorological Institute’s Forecast Center, which no longer poses a danger to Cuba, although the persistence of showers and rains associated with its outer bands is not ruled out.
