Cuba: Solidarity of Mexico – Venezuela in the face of hurricane damage

Havana, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the presidents of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, who called concerned about the situation after the passage of Hurricane Ian, for their solidarity.

In a meeting with the Defense Council in Havana, the Cuban head of State highlighted these signs of friendship that arrived almost immediately.

Díaz-Canel received information at the meeting on the preliminary damages caused by the meteorological event in the capital, where 118 millimeters of rain accumulated and sustained winds of 80 kilometers per hour (km/h) with sustained gusts of 123 km/h were registered.

More than 16,200 people were evacuated for their protection while all affected electrical circuits, five total landslides, 68 partial landslides and more than 1,000 downed trees were counted.
