The Cuban head of government made the statement while expressing his gratitude for the award of the Ho Chi Minh Order, in recognition of his important contributions to the consolidation of the traditional ties of brotherhood, cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
Both nations are proud of our struggles for independence and definitive liberation from colonialism and imperialism, and we have made a modest contribution in demonstrating that no small people can be bent or intimidated, and that it is possible to resist and win in defense of a fair cause, he said.
In another part of his speech of gratitude, Marrero Cruz recalled that Cubans learned about the laborious and patriotic work of the people of this beautiful country, their culture, customs, kindness and strength, through the story written in 1889 by the National Hero José Martí.
Also, he stressed, we learned about the skill of its combatants, protagonists of colossal feats during the war of liberation and authors of one of the most glorious pages of modern history.
The Cuban Prime Minister began a three-day official and friendly visit to Vietnam, as part of his first tour of Southeast Asia, which will also take him to Laos and Cambodia.
