In a press release, the embassy announced the celebration, which was headed by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Zhou Yuqi, and Vice Minister of Bilateral Policies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Jose Julio Gómez.
During the ceremony, Yugi expressed his gratitude to the Dominican society for the support given to the Chinese development and the friendship between both nations.
He said that over the past 73 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, that nation made a great leap forward and explained the signing of nearly 200 cooperation documents to build the Belt and Road, while it is the main trading partner of more than 130 countries and regions.
He also pointed out that thanks to the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic more than four years ago, bilateral ties have reached new stages and are fluid.
For his part, Gomez congratulated China on its anniversary and recalled the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2018, highlighting that “we have tightened ties in the political, economic, cultural, social and cooperation spheres.”
On October 1, 1949, the people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, declared victory in the Liberation War, and the People’s Republic was born.
