Gabo 2022 Award highlights work of Mexican writer Juan Villoro

Mexico City, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) Mexican writer Juan Villoro received the Gabo 2022 Award for Excellence by the Gabriel García Márquez Foundation, local media reported today.

The award promotes the best journalistic stories of Ibero-America and in this case was granted “for the brilliant and inspiring set of his work and career”, in addition to a journalistic exercise “with exemplary rigor, ethics and talent”, according to the jury’s statement.

The contest was organized on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the awarding of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature to the writer Gabriel García Márquez, who was born in Colombia in 1914 and died in Mexico in 2014.

The Mexican narrator has written some thirty novels, essays and chronicles, such as El Testigo( The Witness), El Libro Salvaje (The Wild Book), and the most recent, La Tierra de la Gran Promesa (The Land of Great Promise)(2022).

The award will be presented in Bogota on October 21-23, during the tenth festival dedicated to the renowned Colombian writer, author of other famous works such as Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Love in the Time of Cholera, The General in his Labyrinth, Of Love and Other Demons and The Autumn of the Patriarch.
