Under the slogan ‘Bankers’ security is a red line’, the authority described as unacceptable the assaults on their offices by depositors, who resorted to threats in an attempt to recover frozen funds due to worsening living conditions.
The delegates stressed that the official handling of the deposit crisis had led the Lebanese to lose confidence in their sector and to turn to the State to speed up the approval of laws regulating the relationship between banks and their clients.
In a statement, the Executive Council agreed to follow up on the steps to curb the threats published on social networks to assault banks by the use of arms.
They pointed out the urgency of authorizing the Executive Council to take the corresponding decision in the face of any operation that threatens the safety of colleagues in their workplaces.
The call of the Trade Union Federation comes after witnessing more than a dozen raids to bank offices in the first two weeks of the current month.
