Since the last report, issued last September 23, 27 new infections were reported and the presence of the disease was confirmed in 15 provinces of the country.

So far, 46 people have been infected in Guayas, 37 in Pichincha, 16 in Azuay and 12 other districts have a lower number of cases.

Of the total number of cases, 42 are already medically discharged, 76 in isolation, one hospitalized and one deceased, while 178 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance to monitor the evolution and prevent further spread, official sources said.

The authorities recommended to go to the nearest health facility in case of symptoms associated with monkeypox and suggested frequent hand washing and disinfection, as well as the use of masks in crowded places.
