New momentum to boost Belarusian-Cuban relations

Minsk, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) Belarusian-Cuban relations are gaining new momentum for development, said Sergei Dik, member of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the Slavic country's House of Representatives.

Dik noted that Cuban Chamber of Commerce President Antonio Carricarte´s official visit to Belarus is precisely the starting point for boosting the bilateral relations, Belta news agency reported Thursday.

“Given our countries are under sanctions, and Cuba has been for sanctioned for over a dozen years and has survived, our mission is to resist in the same way, no matter what,” Sergei Dik stated.

Recently, 200,000 Cuban Covid-19 vaccine doses were registered in Belarus, which will be handed over to Health Ministry in just one week, Dik informed.

Interacting with Cuba’s Center for Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biotechnology is quite promising, so that means to develop new drugs, a sphere in which Cuba is one of the world leaders.

“Cooperation with high-tech park is underway, and Cubans want to set up a similar park in their country, Dik stressed, adding there are great opportunities in training Cuban specialists in Belarus.

Cuba is also interested in Belarusian tractors and in setting up assembly and component delivery plants for more than 70,000 equipment that are currently operating in Cuba’s fields.

In other words, we have long-term prospects, and Cuba, like Belarus, wants to guarantee its food security, Sergei Dik said.
