Vietnam and Cuba sign agreements and consolidate cooperation

Hanoi, Sep 29 (Prensa Latina) The governments of Vietnam and Cuba signed three agreements aimed at strengthening and consolidating cooperation in various fields and broadening the historic relations of brotherhood that unite both countries.

The ceremony was led by the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, and Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, who previously held official talks.

An action plan to implement the bilateral economic agenda in the medium term (2023-2025) was signed by Cuban Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz and Construction Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi, who also co-chair the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission.

Ydael Pérez Brito, who heads the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture, signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the agri-food sector with Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan.

Finally, the Cuban Minister of Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, and the acting Minister of Health in Vietnam, Dao Hong Lan, signed the action plan to carry forward the memorandum of understanding signed in 2021 between the two ministries.

Prior to the signing of the documents, Marrero Cruz was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order, in recognition of his important contributions to the consolidation of the traditional ties of brotherhood, cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Prime Minister, together with his counterpart Minh Chinh, also led the official talks held here this morning.

On Friday 30, the Prime Minister and his entourage will participate in a Vietnam-Cuba Business Forum and then meet with members of the state mission, Cuban residents here and representatives of solidarity groups, before traveling to the southern Ho Chi Minh City.

From Ho Chi Minh City, Marrero Cruz will travel on October 2 to Vientiane, the second stop of his tour of Southeast Asia, his first as head of government.
