Covid-19 restrictive measures were lifted in Chile

Santiago de Chile, Oct 1 (Prensa Latina) The main measures taken to curb Covid-19 transmission were lifted on Saturday in Chile, where wearing a face mask is no longer mandatory across the country, except in health centers.

The so-called mobility pass, a certificate demanding at least two vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus to have access to theaters, recreational centers, movie theaters and restaurants, is also no longer required.

Moreover, the limit of people that can be inside stores and other places was lifted.

However, Ministry of Health officials insisted on the voluntary use of face masks in public transportation, especially at peak times when it is imposible to keep a proper distance between passengers.

With the implementation of the so-called “opening scenario,” the Ministry of Labor updated working guidelines under which employers must provide their employees with protection means, including face masks, if they want to wear them.

In addition, it is recommended that there be at least one meter of distance between workstations, ensure adequate ventilation and periodically sanitize the entire area.

The restrictions lasted 31 months, from March 3, 2020, to September 30, 2022, during which a total of 4,624,937 people got infected, 49,517 of which died.
