IEA Agency warns of Gas shortage in Europe

Brussels, Oct 3 (Prensa Latina) A new report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) released here today pointed out that Europe's subway gas deposits run the risk of losing almost all of their reserves.

That danger could reach 5.0 percent next February, if Russian gas pipeline supplies to the region cease completely from November 1, and the proposal of liquefied natural fuel (LNG) is restricted.

The entity highlighted that at the end of last September the subway storage facilities were almost 90 percent full. However, the risk of a total loss of supplies from Russia seriously complicates the possibility of filling the tanks next winter.

Therefore, the agency is assessing the consequences of the cessation of exports by Russia starting November 1.

The report insisted, that if demand is not reduced, (by March 2023) gas reservoirs will be at less than 18 percent of their capacity with high LNG supply volume and almost 5.0 percent in case of low LNG supply.
