Cuba recognizes the labor of workers in the recovery of Havana

Havana, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended the ceremony in recognition of the brigades of the electricity sector that supported the recovery work of that service in Havana, affected by Hurricane Ian.

According to the Presidency’s Tittwer profile, the honorees are workers from the Construction and Electrical Installations Company and electrical companies from the provinces of Granma, Ciego de Avila, Matanzas, Las Tunas, Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo.

At the ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Basic Electric Organization of Havana, the president of the Provincial Defense Council, Luis Antonio Torres, highlighted the dedication and sacrifice of those who, he said, managed to restore in a short time that basic service, severely damaged by the Ian’s scourge in western Cuba last September 27.

Havana has so far recovered 98.55% of its electrical service, affected by the passage of Ian with category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of five).

Part of these brigades will leave for Pinar del Río, the province most affected by the hurricane, to collaborate with the work of recovering the electrical network in Vueltabajo territory.
