Poland advocates increasing arms production for Ukraine

Warsaw, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday asked NATO countries to increase arms production for Ukraine, despite warnings from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the subject.

Any war shipment to Kiev will become a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces, Lavrov said, but in his message to the participants of the Warsaw Security Forum, Duda called for increasing their production on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

Poland is the spearhead of the European Union and the West regarding the sanctions imposed on Russia since late February and the military encirclement that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intends to tighten around Moscow.

Warsaw received hundreds of military personnel from the military alliance as well as weapons and other supplies to strengthen its presence in the areas bordering Russia, the Russian Government denounced at the time. jg/abo/mgt/ehl
