A total of 9,050 Haitian were repatriated by the Dominican migration authorities, 7,782 of them through official points and 1,268 through unofficial ones, this organization which watches over respect for migrants, indicated.
In addition, 3,812 people returned voluntarily from the Dominican Republic and another 70 from Cuba, GARR reported.
This organization admitted an increase in migratory waves while the Caribbean nation faces serious social, economic and political challenges as a result of years of bad governance, they criticized in the report.
They also noted that the worsening socio-economic crisis and deteriorating security context are pushing more and more people to seek other destinations.
