Movement Towards Socialism warns against coup plotters in Bolivia

La Paz, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) on Friday remains in a "state of emergency" against those who conspire against the Government of Bolivian President Luis Arce, a meeting held in Cochabamba in the presence of former President Evo Morales confirmed.

“Given the actions to rearticulate the coup and anti-democratic right wing of its actors who at present continue with impunity conspiring against the democratically elected government, we declare ourselves in a state of emergency for the defense of the homeland,” point two of the resolution of that forum establishes.

According to the communiqué, those attending the political meeting agreed to invite President Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca to a meeting with the MAS and the Unity Pact, comprised of social sectors.

According to the text, the meeting aims “to deal with internal issues and to carry out a joint political reading to confront the right wing.”

The “state of emergency” is called at a time when radical sectors of the Santa Cruz elite headed by Governor Luis Fernando Camacho, civic Rómulo Calvo, and Vicente Cuéllar, rector of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University, insist on carrying out a strike for an indefinite period.
