The Russian flag carrier suspended its commercial flights to Sri Lanka after the island nation’s authorities detained its Airbus A330 jet on June 2, Ada Derana portal noted.
On June 3, Aeroflot reported that the departure of flight SU289 from Colombo to Moscow, scheduled to take off on June 2, was first delayed and then canceled due to the absence of a permit from the Sri Lankan aviation authorities.
This occurred after the Colombo Commercial High Court met a demand filed by Irish leasing company Celestial Aviation Trading Limited against Aeroflot and banned the Airbus A330 jet from leaving the country until June 16.
However, on July 15, the Colombo Commercial High Court dismissed the case filed by the Irish company against Aeroflot, and the Russian airline decided to resume flights between Moscow and Sri Lanka last month.
