On his Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy wrote that there is a common will to ‘continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship, cooperation and solidarity that unite Cuba and Algeria since the independence of the African country in 1962, and their collaboration covers the sectors of health care, energy, construction, education, culture, and sports, among others.
Since May 23, 1963, when the first Internationalist Medical Brigade arrived in Algeria, thousands of Cuban medical professionals have served there.
In September, during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Cuban Foreign Minister and his Algerian counterpart, Ramtane Lamamra, noted the excellent state of bilateral political relations and ratified the need to deepen economic and trade ties.
