Kanani pointed out that Borrell’s statements that ‘Europe is the garden of political freedom and economic prosperity in the world, while the rest of the world is the forest’, come as a result of a colonial mentality.
The spokesman’s remarks come in response to the comment made by the EU representative during his speech at the European Diplomatic Academy in Brussels last week.
Kanani considered Borrell’s statements undiplomatic, racist and unacceptable, as they proclaim the West’s right to invade and occupy territories.
‘That era passed a long time ago. Multipolarity is just around the corner. The EU needs to embrace the realities, otherwise it will continue to decline and fade away,’ the Iranian spokesman said.
For its part, the UAE summoned the acting head of mission of the European delegation on Monday and asked for an explanation of what it described as Borrell’s racist remarks.
