According to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin, the complaint was filed because on Sunday malicious people harassed and illegally broke into that institution, injured the Chinese staff, and threatened the security of the place.
He stressed that the peace and dignity of Chinese diplomatic missions in other countries are inviolable, urged London to responsibly take action, and demanded guarantees of security for the Chinese diplomatic corps.
It is the second day in a row that Wang speaks about this incident under investigation because it involves accusations against the Manchester Consulate for presumably hitting an individual.
On Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said that a demonstrator broke into the diplomatic facility without permission and jeopardized its security.
Meanwhile, the British police reported that the protest was unfolding peacefully when unknown men left the consulate, dragged a person inside, and attacked him until some officers intervened.
Apart from the inquiry, the UK Foreign Secretariat called for consultations with the Chinese chargé d’affaires in London.
