“We made an international call to fight Covid-19, and the only country that raised its hand was Cuba, responding to our request with a contingent of 400 high-profile professionals,” Panamanian Deputy Health Minister Ivette Berrio stressed at the forum.
After succeeding in controlling the pandemic, Panamanian doctors asked why the Cubans were leaving, Berrio, who is participating in this Convention at the Havana International Conference Center until Friday, said on Thursday.
Trinidad and Tobago’s minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsinh, pointed out that the most important thing about the arrival of Cuban doctors in his country was to be able to exchange ideas and experiences, which contributed to improving both health systems.
For his part, Yemeni Health Minister Qasim Buhabeih attached special value to the reactivation of collaboration between Cuba and his country, not only in the field of medical assistance but also in the training of human resources.
In addition, Mozambican President Armindo Daniel Thiago highlighted the development achieved by Cuba in this field, thanked Havana for its collaboration in that area, and proposed to expand these relations to raise the health level of that African nation.
It is our wish that young people from my country continue coming here to be trained in Cuban Medical Sciences Universities, and that experts from here go to Mozambique to contribute to the training of our human resources, Thiago commented.
