Air alert issued in most regions of Ukraine

Kyiv, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) Ukrainian authorities on Saturday declared an air alert in several regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, due to the menace of Russian missile and drone attacks.

Kyiv´s military administration published on Saturday a message on Telegram asking the entire population to urgently go to civil protection shelters. The head of the Kirovograd regional military administration and the Secretary of Zaporozhie city council also announced the air alert on their Telegram channels.

According to the Ukrainian Air Alerts service, sirens were also sounded in Vinnitsa, Cherkasy, Zhitomir and Dnepropetrovsk regions, as well as in Poltava, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, Odessa and Nikolayev.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian news portal Strana reported that heavy explosions had been reported in the regions of Kiev, Odessa, Chernigov, Vinnitsa, Cherkasi, Kirovograd and Dniepropetrovsk.
