Alleged members of radical organization arrested in Morocco

Rabat, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) Moroccan authorities on Wednesday reported the arrest in several provinces of five alleged members of the extremist Islamic State organization (IS), involved in the preparation of terrorist plans.

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (CBJI) reported that arrested individuals in the provinces of Kenitra, Chichaua and the city of Casablanca, sought to seriously undermine public order.

According to preliminary data of the investigation, those under custody planned to carry out sabotage against vital services through the use of explosive materials, or against security elements and institutions within the framework of individual terrorism operations, Map News Agency reported.

After pointing out that some of the suspects were trained in the manufacturing of explosive devices, the source reported that, during searches carried out in the homes of the , firearms were discovered and seized, including a shotgun and ammunition, as well as knives.

According to CBJI, those arrested were taken into police custody, under the supervision of the district attorney’s office, for further investigation and trial in court.

In recent times, Moroccan authorities have dismantled several networks of extremist elements affiliated with ISIS in Morocco who were attempting to attack military and civilian targets.
