Last week, the situation turned violent when several protesters stormed the command of the Fourth Infantry Division and set fire to the regional government facilities and vital installations.
In an effort to control the situation, the army launched intensive campaigns to disarm civilians and removed barriers erected to obstruct the movement of vehicles.
A joint force of the army and Rapid Support Forces removed barricades erected by tribal groups in Ad Damazin and fired real bullets, killing three people and injuring another five, the Sudan Tribune reported.
Following the clash, tribal groups blocked the road and set up checkpoints to prevent those fearing for their lives from leaving the Blue Nile region.
