Japanese Government calls to save electricity in winter

Yasutoshi-Nishimura-minist-300x193
Tokyo, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) The Japanese Government on Tuesday called on companies and households across the country to save electricity during the winter, due to fears of energy shortages.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry recommended people wear layered clothing indoors, turn the heating temperature lower, and turn off unnecessary lights.

Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura told a press briefing that they needed to take action to ensure that a stable power supply would not be cut off between December 1 and March 30, 2023, when the demand increases due to low temperatures.

Incidentally, he mentioned that they would revive idle power plants and purchase additional fuel, among other measures.

Nishimura also reiterated the official will to speed up efforts to restart nuclear reactors that have passed stringent safety standards since 2011.

This call for saving energy during the winter is the first in seven years, and stands out as a preventive action.
