Iran condemns U.S., UK political double standards

Hussein-Amir-Abdollahian
Tehran, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) Iranian government on Friday condemned the political double standards of the United States and the United Kingdom (UK) for lashing out at alleged violations of human rights in the Persian nation, while they preclude Iran from getting food and medicines for its people.

In his annual report on human rights violations, Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian said on Friday both U.S. and British governments went out to champion the fundamentals and principles of human rights, despite their obvious role in most of controversial domestic and international run-ins.”

Abdollahian recalled that both nations (U.S. and UK) have always taken interventionist steps regarding other nations´ human rights situation and conditions by making a stand according to their own political interests.

Plus, Abdollahian stressed, these two countries use these concepts justifying their major contrary policies including the imposition of economic sanctions and political pressure in a biased and unfair manner on others, especially those who do not join their interests.

While published documents and evidence make it clear the U.S. and U.K. governments frequently and seriously violate human rights within their own territories, as well as in other nations, in all same cases they accuse others of violations.

“Such a situation (…) confirms the lack of competence of Washington and London to assess the human rights situation in other countries and deprives these two countries of any right to launch humanitarian claims,” the report stated.
