President Diaz-Canel thanks expressions of support for Cuba

Havana, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday expressed gratitude for the support for Cuba from Latin American personalities after the victory of the resolution against the United States blockade at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

On Twitter, Diaz-Canel posted a message to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, whom he thanked for his support and pointed out, “Together in the struggle for a better world, without blockades, without walls, without coercive measures, without an empire.”

On Thursday, after learning about the overwhelming victory of Cuba’s resolution against the US blockade, approved by the UN General Assembly with 185 votes in favor, two against and two abstentions, Maduro tweeted, “Venezuela celebrates the victory of our sister Cuba, today, November 3, at the UN. There are 185 countries with a clear and forceful message: Enough Blockade! These are times of a new humanity of respect. Long live the dignity of the Cuban people!”

For his part, also on Twitter, former Bolivian President Evo Morales wrote, “To the dignified Cuban people and its government led by brother Diaz-Canel who achieved a new resounding victory in the UN voting against the criminal US blockade.”

He went stressed that “free peoples call for a blockade against the warmonguering interventionism of imperialism.”

The Cuban president replied with a tweet on Friday, “Thank you, brother Evo. It is also a victory of Our America.”
