Kosovo’s Special Forces occupy border checkpoints

Kosovo’s Special Forces occupy border checkpoints

Belgrade, Nov 8 (Prensa Latina) Police forces from the unrecognized region of Kosovo on Tuesday occupied the Jarinje and Brnjak checkpoints on the administrative line between Kosovo and Metohija and Central Serbia, the Vecherne Novosti daily reported.

According to the newspaper, the officers started to occupy the checkpoint on Sunday, and on Monday they finally settled at these checkpoints after the resignation of Serbian police officers.

The source clarified that since Monday, representatives of the so-called Kosovo Security Forces have been on duty in this area, while the movement of vehicles is proceeding smoothly.

Since Monday, an armored personnel carrier with Kosovo Police special forces officers has been patrolling the Yarinje checkpoint with automatic weapons.

Special forces and armored vehicles were also deployed at the base of the so-called Kosovo police, located one kilometer from the administrative junction.

Earlier, Serbians from Kosovo and Metohija withdrew from all institutions of power in that region, while Goran Rakic, their leader in the province, submitted a request to withdraw from the Kosovar Government.

Serbian lawmakers promptly announced their withdrawal from Parliament, followed by judges and municipal leaders.
