German chancellor announces official visit to Vietnam

Hanoi, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will pay an official visit to Vietnam on November 13-14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Scholz will respond to an invitation from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the communiqué stated.

Both nations established diplomatic relations on September 23, 1975, and raised the level of their ties to a bilateral strategic partnership in October 2011.

Germany is Vietnam’s tenth-largest European Union trading partner, while Vietnam ranks as the Germany’s top partner in Southeast Asia.

The source stated that bilateral cooperation is developing in investment, education, science, security, and defense. The two nations work together to implement the plan to materialize the strategic partnership in 2023-2024.

During a visit by Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, to Hanoi in September, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh stressed the importance that his country grants to Vietnam’s ties with Germany.
