Panama reports 21 new monkeypox cases

Panama City, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian health authorities confirmed on Wednesday 21 new monkeypox cases.

According to the Health Ministry (MINSA) latest update, all these new cases were reported by the Gorgas Memorial Institute for Health Studies, where patients aged 25 to 29.

MINSA reported that 16 of these cases have been outpatient and five required hospitalization due to another type of chronic disease.

In this regard, MINSA´s Epidemiology Department Head Lourdes Moreno informed that 78 people were reported as suspected cases. The regions with more monkeypox incidences are Panama Metro, Panama Oeste and the capital city of San Miguelito.
