The head of State tweeted that during the meeting, which was also attended by ACS Secretary General Rodolfo Sabonge and other officials, he expressed gratitude for their confidence in Cuba, which was chosen to be the venue of the Sixth ACS International Cooperation Conference.
Diaz-Canel added that they share the common position of the need to make progress in regional projects in favor of ‘the future of our peoples and contributing to the next Summit of the Association in 2023.’
According to the government’s Facebook page, Diaz-Canel met these senior officials before the summit and spoke about the relevance of searching for complementarity and the consolidation of a space for universal participation.
In this scenario, the president described the continuity, deepening and concretion of programs of common interest as challenges, and ratified Cuba’s support for the Caribbean countries and thanked the ACS for its support for the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
For his part, Bucaro highlighted Cuba’s hospitality and capacity to hold this summit and urged to think differently and innovate with the purpose of solving the persistent problems in this area.
The text also mentions the gratitude of the Guatemalan Foreign Minister for the Program of Cuban doctors in the Caribbean, a critical symbol of cooperation for the countries of the region.
