French association highlights vote at UN against US blockade on Cuba

Paris, Nov 10 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Cooperation France (CubaCoop) association on Thursday highlighted the recent appeal at the UN General Assembly to lift the US blockade against Cuba in the thirtieth resolution presented at the multilateral body.

In its weekly publication, La lettre électronique Hebdo reported that this organization created in 1995 to promote socio-economic ties with Cuba welcomed the new universal condemnation of a policy it described as inhumane.

The economic, commercial and financial blockade was imposed by the world’s leading power on a small Third World country that is just defending its independence, according to an article written by its first vice-president, Miguel Quintero.

CubaCoop highlighted the isolation of the United States, which, together with its ally Israel, voted against this resolution, which was supported by 185 countries on November 3 in New York, where the UN General Assembly´s headquarters are located.

Brazil, still with Bolsonaro, and Ukraine abstained; the latter government forgot 24,000 children of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant catastrophe, who were treated and cared for in Cuba, he stressed.

CubaCoop announced that it is preparing a European petition, in line with the initiative it launched in September in coordination with associations and politicians in France, Spain and Italy to propose concrete actions to reduce the devastating impact of Washington’s blockade against Cuba.
