British environmentalists stop protests on London freeway

London, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) The British environmentalist group that has interrupted traffic on a London freeway for the past four days announced on Friday that it will stop the protests so as to give the government time to think about its responsibility with the environment.

They called on Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to think about his speech at COP27, where he spoke of the catastrophic threat posed by global warming, the 33 million people displaced by floods in Pakistan and the moral and economic imperative to honor climate commitments, Just Stop Oil said.

According to this environmental organization, which calls for the suspension of new licenses to extract fossil fuels, the British prime minister must take action to curb climate change.

Enough of words and recycled promises, Just Stop Oil added, the group that staged daily demonstrations in London and its surroundings in October and has not set a deadline for the truce yet, .

During the 32 days of the previous protest, environmentalists closed streets and highways, threw paint on government buildings and luxury goods stores, and spilled tomato soup on a Vincent Van Gogh painting on display at the National Gallery.
