Security, investment, axes of presidential tour in Chile’s Araucania

Boric-Araucania-768x576
Santiago, Chile, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) Increasing social investment and confronting violence are the main programs Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced during his visit to the Araucanía region, cradle of the Mapuche People, which he will conclude on Friday.

Interior Minister, Carolina Tohá and Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency Ana Lya Uriarte accompanied the president.

Boric acknowledged that the State abandoned the region and expressed his commitment to recover the territory and peace.

In his first trip to the so-called southern macro-zone since he took office in March, the head of State met with regional Governor Luciano Rivas, mayors, and victims of violence in the area.

He promised to improve infrastructures and services for indigenous and rural communities, build roads and five new markets, and provide the populations with drinking water.

In the area of security, he will implement a national plan to fight organized crime, confront timber theft and achieve greater control on weapons.
