The program seeks to plant 55 million trees for reforestation and rehabilitation of areas in the capital and the remaining 65 million in apartment construction areas of the city, according to the state news agency.
The capital’s Government is cooperating with 15 companies to start up the reproduction and cultivation of over 110 species of shrubs, natural perennials, and 25 varieties of flowers, the source reported.
Local authorities also intend to increase Ulaanbaatar’s green space with more than 15 million trees in the area where the Unity Park, a center under construction planned for tourism, forestry, landscaping, and sports, will be built.
According to a state report, seeds for 30 million trees and shrubs have been planted in Mongolia this year as part of the nationwide One Billion Trees movement.
