This body is important ‘because it is necessary to find peaceful solutions to the conflicts that have been taking place in several areas of the country’, an official statement pointed out.

The commission will help disarm members of rebel groups and their subsequent incorporation into peaceful life in a legal, safe and sustainable manner, the Government Communication Service stressed in its communique.

It will also participate in processes to protect peace, strengthen democracy and guarantee economic growth in the regional states and nationwide.

During the Saturday session, the Council also discussed the Defense Force bill which, requires a legal framework compatible with its current and future functions.

The Defense Force is free from political bias and is currently going through a process to reform its mission to protect national sovereignty and the security of citizens.
